RUASRT members Sam Prudden, David Purser and Ashim Panta recently filmed a segment about multi-rotor UAS for Network 10’s Scope TV program. Scope aims to provide fast, funny and informative science television for children aged 8-12 years.
The segment was titled “Drone Builders” and was filmed entirely in the RUASRT Lab at RMIT Bundoora East Campus. The hosts demonstrated the development phases for multi-rotor UAS, including eliciting customer requirements, conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing and demonstration to the customer. The hosts were able to demonstrate the wide range of multi-rotor platforms utilised by RUASRT as well as providing examples of CAD models and carbon fibre moulds and materials used during the design and manufacturing processes. The hosts even wowed the film crew with some (safe) indoor FPV flying of a micro-quadcopter.
The segment was a complete success, being thoroughly enjoyable for both the RUASRT members and Network 10 film crew, and will air on Channel 11 in the near future.
